Women in Ahafo Ano North receive loans

Tepa (Ash), June 6, GNA – Some 125 women traders in the Ahafo Ano North district in Ashanti have received loans from a 151 million-cedis credit facility from the International Savings and Loans Limited to expand their trade and businesses.

Each of the women received between one and five million cedis, depending on one’s turnover.

Speaking at a meeting with the women at Tepa on Monday, Mr Gabriel Nkrumah, a senior staff of the company, said the facility was to supplement the government’s poverty alleviation programme, especially among rural women.

He said the company was ready to assist women in any part of the country and asked them to organize themselves into groups. Miss Charity Annor Frimpong, an assembly member and a leading member of the traders, thanked the company for responding promptly to their needs and gave the assurance that they would abide by the terms of agreement to enable more women benefit from the facility. 06 May 06
