Woman killed at Weija

Residents of Ngleshie Amanfrom, near Weija, are yet to come to terms with circumstances that led to the alleged murder of a 38-year-old woman in the area.

The body of the woman, identified as Gifty Baah, was discovered on the Zongo Park lying in a supine position with blood and marks of assault all over her body.

Her panties were also removed while her beads were torn into pieces.

An eyewitness account suggested that the deceased might have been raped by her killers before the body was dumped on the park.

An eyewitness, who first saw the body on the park, told DAILY GUIDE at the scene that she earlier saw an unregistered saloon car occupied by three well-built men, at around 1:15 am that fateful day, dumping something on the park.

She said the men were all dressed in black shirts and shorts, adding that the killers sat in the car for close to 35 minutes before leaving Gifty’s body.

According to the eyewitness, it was later that some friends and family members came to the park to catch a glimpse of the body and brought out some cloths to cover the nakedness of the deceased.

The incident attracted a large crowd of onlookers, largely women, claiming to know Gifty’s parents.

The Weija District police were later invited to the scene and picked the body to the mortuary.

When contacted, Superintendent Shaibu Osei, the Weija District Police Commander, said preliminary investigations revealed that there was a deep cut at the back of the deceased’s head with traces of wounds all over her body.

According to him, although the police could not confirm the actual cause of Gifty’s death, the bruises on her body depicted a foul play.

He said the police had begun investigations into the death and the perpetrators would be brought to book.
