Woman helping police in child’s death

Akim Achiase, Aug 03, GNA – A 39-year-old woman who assaulted a nursing mother at Akim Achease in the Birim South District resulting in the death of the woman’s six-week old baby is helping the Akim Oda Police in their investigations.

The suspect, Adwoa Owusua, was alleged to have slapped Evelyn Peprah, 22, resulting in Evelyn’s baby falling from her hands. The Akim Oda Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Ben Atadana told the GNA that on July 18, Evelyn’s husband was alleged to have quarrelled with the suspect’s 19-year-old daughter. She reported the incident to her mother who went to Evelyn’s house to confront her husband.

She did not meet Evelyn’s husband in the house so she turned her anger on Evelyn and slapped her and that resulted in Evelyn losing grip on her baby.

Evelyn took the baby to the Akim Oda Government hospital where she was admitted but died. Chief Supt Atadana said the police were awaiting the result of the post-mortem examination.
