Woman, 48, adjudged best farmer in Twifo District

Twifo Ankaako (C/R), Nov 13, GNA – Ms Comfort Anderson, a 48- year-old woman from Twifo Mintaso, was on Friday adjudged the best farmer in the Twifo-Heman-Lower Denkyira District at the district’s ‘Farmers’ Day’, at Ankaako.

Fifteen farmers including Mr Abraham Odoom, the District Chief Executive, were honoured.

Ms Anderson received the top prize for cultivating 32 acres of cocoa, 1.5 acres of cassava, two acres maize, 5 acres each of cocoyam and plantain and for establishing poultry.

Prizes ranging from cutlasses, bicycles, knapsack sprayer, radio cassette recorder, wax prints, Wellington boots and certificates were presented to award winners.

Mr Odoom commended the award winners for their hard work and asked them not to be complacent but work harder.

He said the assembly has plans to unite all farmers in the district to enable them get assistance from financial institutions. On December 7 general elections, Mr Odoom appealed to the people to vote for candidates who can perform.

Nana Ama Ayensua Saara II, Denkyira Hemaa, appealed to farmers in the district to make use of opportunities being offered them to improve their farms.
