Winneba (C/R), July 16, GNA – The proposed 9.5 billion-cedi Winneba Salt Project (WSP) expected to produce 20,000 metric tons of iodated salt annually for local consumption and export will take off in October, this year.
The company will initially start with 1.5 billion cedis and offer employment to about 350 people in the area.
These were contained in a message delivered on behalf of the Managing Director of the company, Mr Moses Jasi Addae, by an executive officer, Mr Emmanuel A. Adjei, when he led the district chief executive for Awutu-Effutu-Senya, Lieutenant Daniel William Osardu, and the district investment officer, Mr John Antwi-Boateng, to inspect the project site at Winneba on Thursday.
Mr Addae said the project would provide employment opportunities for the jobless youth in the area in order to reduce the incidence of theft and other illicit activities in the area.
Besides creating jobs for the people, he said, the project would also give the Awutu-Effutu-Senya district assembly substantial revenue and called for the support of the assembly. Lt Osardu thanked Mr Addae for the efforts he and other executive officers of the company were making to ensure early take off of the project and appealed to banking institutions to supplement the efforts of the company.
He said the assembly would create a congenial atmosphere for the effective take-off of the project.
