Karaga (N/R), May 13, GNA – The people of Karaga went into jubilation soon after assembly members on Tuesday overwhelmingly voted to confirm Mr. Mohammed Abdulai Sandow as the District Chief Executive for the area. Mr. Sandow polled 29 votes out of the 35 cast, representing 82.9 percent.

He said he would work across the political divide to promote unity to facilitate the development of the district and called on the members of parliament from the area to support the development agenda of Karaga and Gushiegu to better the lives of the people. “Let us preach peace, unity, tolerance, co-existence and respect for each others’ views and opinions irrespective of our divergent opinions since togetherness can never be equated to violence and insecurity”, he said.

Mr. Moses Mabengba, Deputy Northern Regional Minister, said the NDC government was people centred and would do its best to bring development to all corners of the country. He appealed to the people to always use dialogue and understanding to redress their grievances instead of resorting to violence. The assembly elected Mr. Husam Haruna as the Presiding Member.
