White Paper on Educational Reforms Report ready

Agona Nsaba (C/R), Aug. 6, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor on Friday announced that White Paper on recommendations presented by the Education Review Committee was ready and would be submitted to the Cabinet next week.

The President, who was speaking at durbar of Chiefs and people of the Agona Nsabaa Traditional Area on the first day of his second visit to the Central Region, noted that knowledge, the key to progress could only be acquired through an effective education to fight ignorance, poverty and disease.

He gave the assurance that the Government would not use intimidation and harassment as weapons to rule.

The first day of the visit took President Kufuor and his entourage to Adjumako and Besease all in the Adjumako-Enyan-Essiam District. On Election 2004, President Kufuor said the Government would not employ the services of ‘machomen’ or personnel of State Security apparatus at polling stations to suppress the electorate, as some opposition parties had perceived.

The President introduced the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Agona East Constituency, who is also the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Agona, Mr John Kwesi Agyabeng to the people and asked them vote for him massively.

President Kufuor said he would need competent and visionary Parliamentarians to assist his administration to move the nation forward and, therefore, appealed to the electorate to support the NPP candidate to win the seat.

Nana Okeseku Afari Mintah, Omanhene of Agona Nsaban Traditional Area, said the people would support the Government to continue with its good work of fighting hunger, disease and ignorance confronting Ghanaians.

He gave the assurance that the chiefs and people would ensure peace and urged President Kufuor to concentrate on his vision for the country to enhance development.
