Wheel caps thief fined one million cedis

Tema, Nov. 19, GNA – The Tema Circuit Court “A” has fined a wheel-cap thief one million cedis or in default, one year imprisonment. James Mensah pleaded guilty to the charge of attempting to steal and unlawful entry.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Mary Assunta told the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that on November 4, this year, at about 0400 hours, while a policeman was on guard duties at a bungalow at Site Four Community One, he heard an unusual noise at an adjacent house. She said the policeman came out only to see the accused busily removing wheel-caps from a BMW saloon car packed in a compound. Chief Inspector Assunta said, Mensah, on seeing the policeman jumped over the gate, took to his heels but was pursued, arrested and sent to Harbour Police.

The owner of the BMW car, a 25-year-old computer engineer went to the police station and identified the wheel-caps and after investigations the accused was charged with the offence.
