Western Region GBA elects new executives

Sekondi, Nov 25, GNA – The Western Regional Branch of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has elected new executives.

They are Mr Ebenezer A. Kwaitoo, the President, Mr Samuel Kwesi Agbottah, Vice President, Mr Emmanuel Kofi Diaba, Secretary, Mr Ebenezer Kojo Kum, Social Secretary and Mrs. Patience Diaba, Treasurer. Mr Kwaitoo assured his colleagues of a transparent administration and called for cooperation at all times, adding “this is an effort to restore confidence in the legal system which has suffered a battering over the past few years.”

He said his vision was anchored on the theme “law as a catalyst for sustainable development” and that the association would organize periodic legal clinic for the public as a way of bringing the appreciation of law to the doorsteps of the layman.

He said quarterly seminars would be organized at the regional level to beef up the knowledge of its members as part of continuing legal education. Mr Kwaitoo said steps would be taken to strengthen the relationship with other professional bodies such as the Ghana Medical Association, Ghana Institutes of Architect, bankers and teachers among others through educational programmes.

He stressed the need for lawyers to use Information Communication Technology to regulate their daily activities. Mr Kwaitoo said plans are also far advanced to introduce a list-service mechanism “as a social interaction tool on the internet to assist members to enhance their professional knowledge”.
