We’re grateful for your votes in 2016 – Kufour to Central Region

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has commended the Chiefs and people of Central Region for voting massively for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the December 7 General Elections.

“I wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Chiefs and people of central region for the amazing and overwhelming support the region gave us in the last election,”he said.

President Nana Akufo-Addo who was the presidential candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party obtained 496,668 votes representing 53.22% while former President John Dramani Mahama who was the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress secured 405,262 votes representing 43.43%.

The NPP also secured 19 Parliamentary seats out of the 23 seats in the region leaving the remaining 4 seats for the NDC.

Addressing supporters of the party at its National Delegates Conference at University of Cape Coast Mr Kufuor said what the region did was clearly a demonstration of faith in NPP as a party which could deliver the country from the quagmire of decay the previous National Democratic Congress government led the country into.

“Clearly they were sending a message to us that they were supporting us to help bring our nation out of the quagmire that the NDC led the nation into.”

He also urged the party to be united and solve any issue they have internally.

The Conference themed: “NPP, delivering on our promises, our roots, our strength, our future” is to help the party to among other things take stock of its achievements in the last few years.
