We’ll not jubilate over Crabbe’s defeat – NPP

Chairman of the NPP Legal and Constitutional Committee Prof. Mike Oquaye has said the party is not celebrating its victory in court over suspended second vice Chairman, Sammy Crabbe.

Crabbe sued the party for indefinitely suspending him in January this year.

Mr. Crabbe, who is perceived as an ally to the suspended National Chairman, Paul Afoko, was suspended after he refused to appear before the disciplinary committee after several invitations.
He was also accused of disrespecting party decisions in support of Afoko.

But an Accra High Court judge, Justice Sir Dennis Adjei on Thursday upheld the decision by the NPP Disciplinary Committee to suspend Sammy Crabbe accused of disrespecting party structures.

The judge said the Committee of the party has jurisdiction to hear and punish anyone who had been found to have breached some rules of the party.

The suit was therefore without merit, the High Court maintained.

Speaking to Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Si Me So on Kasapa 102.5 FM, Prof. Mike Ocquaye stated that he and his legal team remain calm and observing what goes on next after the ruling.

“We are not pouring powder on ourselves for this victory; we’ve taken things easy. If he goes for an appeal, the necessary documents will be forwarded to us to enter an appearance in court. I’ll put our layers together and we’ll face him. The National Executive Council may want to handle any such development and try to settle it out of court, but we are lawyers and we only know the court.”

Prof. Ocquaye advised Mr Crabbe to be humble and submit himself to the laws of the party, as the party is supreme.
