Welder remanded for possessing drugs

Accra July 15, GNA – A 25-year-old welder was on Thursday remanded into prison custody by an Accra Circuit Court for possessing 61 wrappers of substances suspected to be cocaine.

Seno Doe, whose plea was not taken, has been charged with possessing narcotic drugs without lawful authority.

He is to reappear on August 3.

The case as presented by Assistant Superintendent of Police Mr Paul K. Frimpong were that on July 13, Personnel of the Drug Law Enforcement Unit of the Ghana Police Service embarked on an anti-narcotic drug operation within the Accra Metropolis.

The Police went to Tip-Toe Lane at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle and arrested Doe with 61 silver foil wrappers of whitish substance suspected to be cocaine.

During interrogation, Doe told the Police that he was the owner of the 61 wrappers and named one Kofi of Accra New Town as his source of supply. He, however, failed to identify Kofi. The Prosecutor said the substances were being forwarded to the Police Forensic Science Laboratory for examination.
