High pressure centred over North Africa to sustain the harmattan -Meteo

The Meteorological Services Department on Thursday said the high pressure system, which is centred over North Africa, would continue to sustain the harmattan with reduced visibility over the entire country.

Early morning mist foggy conditions with reduced visibility are also expected over the sheltered areas of Eastern, Ashanti, the Volta, and parts of the coastal belt.

The Department said in the afternoon, it would be sunny with the harmattan relaxing slightly over the mid-portions and parts of the coastal belt of the country.

The northern sector will be dry, hot and dusty in the afternoon becoming very cold at night.

Maximum and minimum temperatures between 0600 hours on Thursday and 0600 on Friday were given as: coastal areas, between 33 and 26 degrees Celsius, forest and mountainous areas, between 34 and 22 degrees Celsius and Northern Ghana, between 39 and 24 degrees Celsius.
