The Ghana Football Association (GFA) says it will address recent statements by the Ministry of Sports and Recreation regarding the Black Stars’ budget for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers but insists now is the time to concentrate on football.
In a statement, the GFA acknowledged the Ministry’s disclosures about cost reductions and budget approvals for the national team but stressed that its immediate priority remains the qualifiers against Chad and Mali.
“As the custodian of Ghana football, the GFA will, in due course, provide clarifications to the issues raised,” the Association said.
Ghana face Chad on Thursday, September 4, in N’Djamena before hosting Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8.
“The Black Stars require the unflinching support of all Ghanaians as they prepare to navigate these important encounters,” the GFA added, urging the public to keep faith with Otto Addo’s squad as they push for a fifth World Cup appearance.
The Association further stated that a full response to the Ministry’s remarks would be provided after the Mali match, while thanking Ghanaians for their “understanding and continued support” for the Black Stars and other national teams.
