The National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has raised concerns over the presence of military personnel in Akwatia ahead of the by-election.
According to him, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has assured the party of full security with the deployment of 5,000 well-prepared and equipped police officers, making military support unnecessary.
He stressed that the IGP has the mandate to invite the military if necessary, but in this case, soldiers have been spotted in the area without any official assignment. Nana B alleged that the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) is unaware of their presence.
