We gifted NPP victory in December polls – NDC

The Ashanti Regional Communications Officer for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Samed Akalilu has said that Ex-President Mahama and his NDC party didn’t compete keenly with the New Patriotic Party [NPP] but rather gifted them victory in the December 7 polls.

Akalilu believes the NPP didn’t win the 2016 general election because of their hard work since the NDC cheaply handed victory to the Nana Akuffo Addo’s led NPP party.

He adds though the NPP gave Ghanaians lots of unachievable promises to cast their votes for them, some internal wranglings in the party which they failed to address properly fueled Nana Addo’s victory.

Speaking on Abusua Nkomo hosted by Kwame Adinkra on Friday morning, he indicated that the 2016 polls will remain the “clearest and well-organized” polls Ghana has ever had in the country’s political history.

“I can boldly say that we the NDC party didn’t lose the 2016 general elections because I am of the opinion that we gifted victory to the NPP.”

He added, “Seriously for me I think the 2016 election was more credible than all the elections this country has ever had, something which is very good for our democracy”.
