‘We didn’t induce Kenu’ – Gyan’s lawyer

Lawyer for Baffour Gyan – the assailant of Daily Graphic’s Regional Editor, Daniel Kenu, has rubbished rumours that his client induced the journalist to withdraw the case.

Kissi Adjaben said such claims are offensive and disrespectful to his client and the judicial process of the country.

Kenu pressed assault charges against Gyan and some macho men who attacked him a couple of weeks ago at the Baba Yara Sports stadium, over a question he posed to Black Stars’ Skipper, Asamoah Gyan, two days earlier, about Gyan’s missing friend, Castro.

In a volte-face, however, Kenu dropped the charges on health grounds.

The rather dramatic development has left many, on social media, imputing motives, including a possible inducement of Kenu by Gyan, and the two other accused persons.

But speaking to Joy FM, Friday, Gyan’s Lawyer said the allegations are baseless.

“We did not have any deal with him. He went to complain and went to court over the matter, so we are not in the position to put any pressure or whatsoever on him.

“The only relationship we have had with him, is that of a complainant and accused persons and nothing else. If there had been any pressure on him, it would be the one mounted by the media for him to continue the case and not from us,” Adjaben stated.

The Ashanti regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association has described the development as disappointing.
