Water tariff goes up by 15%

The Public Utility Regulatory Commission has suspended a planned increment of electricity tariffs by some 51.73 percent while sticking to that of water, which will still hold at 15 percent effective Wednesday July 1.

In a statement issued in Accra Tuesday evening, the utilities regulatory body said it is deferring the increment for electricity due to “the current electricity supply situation.”

That of water they add stays because of “notable expansion in water infrastructure and considerable improvement in supply.”

The increases the PURC says are in accordance with the Electricity and Water Rate Setting Guidelines of the Commission.
