Wassa West commissions Projects

Bogoso (W/R), Aug 01, GNA – The Wassa West District Assembly has commissioned four projects in three of its communities at the cost of 476 million cedis.

The projects are three 16-seater Aqua Privy toilets and a hand-dug well fitted with pump.

The beneficiary communities are Bogoso, which had a hand-dug well and a toilet with Ehyireso and Prestea are having a toilet each. Mr Emmanuel Kwesi Ayensu, the District Chief Executive of the Wassa West District Assembly who commissioned the projects, said the two toilets at Bogoso and Ehyireso were constructed with HIPC funds. The Member of Parliament of the area built the hand-dug well with his share of the Common Fund and the assembly also constructed that of Prestea.

He said the assembly would do all it could to carry out developmental projects to complement those that are being done by some of the mining companies.

Mr Ayensu appealed to the communities to register for the National Health Insurance Scheme and that the assembly would buy an additional digital camera to speed up with the registration. Mr Albert Kweku Obbin, the MP of the area, thanked the district assembly for undertaking such projects.

Mr Obbin promised the people of Bogoso that a one million dollar electrification project which would be carried out in the area would help solve the frequent power outages in the town and its environs. He said a social centre would soon be built in the town to enable them have a permanent place of holding their social gatherings.
