Wansammire farmers call for more spraying gangs

Wansammire (Ash), Aug. 18, GNA – Cocoa farmers at Wansammire in the Atwima District have called for the constitution of more spraying gangs in the area to enable all their farms to be sprayed.

The farmers contended that due to the inadequate number of spraying gangs in the area, about 250 farms had not been sprayed.

Mr Martin Owusu, Chairman of the Town’s Unit Committee and a prominent farmer in the area, who raised the concern of the farmers told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that while there were six spraying gangs at Sreso-Tinpom, there was only one at Wansammire.

He said while farmers at Sreso-Tinpom had had their farms sprayed about three times each, some farmers at Wansammire had not had their farms sprayed even once.

Mr Owusu said the situation had become a major source of concern to the farmers, who were expressing fears that their farms might not be sprayed before the end of the exercise.

When Opanin Yaw Bronyah, Nyinahin District Chief Farmer, told the was awaiting their response.
