Wahala Has Paid Off – Vanderpuye

The special assistance to Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, the NDC flagbearer, Nii Lante Vanderpuye has said that the successive wahala demonstrations held by the Committee for Joint Action (CJA) has paid off well. He said the wahala demonstration has made significant progress, precipitating the involvement of the Trade Union congress in what he called the crusade against fuel price hikes. His comments come in the wake of the Trades Unions Congress? statement issued recently for the government to reduce the petroleum prices it increased last February.

Nii Vanderpuye said that the demonstrations have made a direct impact in the country. ?Through the wahala demonstration, the country?s labour union which until then was silent has come to criticize government to reduce the prices of petroleum, that is the progress we are steadily making,? he said.

He said but for the demonstration, the Christian council, which was inactive for sometime now would not have been heard at all. He further stated that the protest matches, which were held in three regions have induced the thinking of Ghanaians; ?we have been able to set the agenda for the nation because people are discussing it everywhere?.
