Wa Polytechnic starts HND programmes

Wa, Oct. 24, GNA – The Wa Polytechnic has obtained accreditation from the National Accreditations Board to run Higher National Diploma courses in Agriculture Engineering, Secretaryship and Management Studies.

Prior to obtaining the accreditation, the Polytechnic offer only Diploma in Business courses in Accounting and Secretaryship. In a statement on Friday Mr George Christian, the Acting Polytechnic Secretary said highly qualified lecturers have been recruited and were ready to kick-start the HND programmes next month.

He said construction was progressing speedily on lecture halls and administration for the polytechnic while lectures were in the meantime being held at the Institute of Adult Education and the Secondary Technical School premises, both at Wa.

According to the statement, the Wa Polytechnic Council has a vision to transform it into a world-class centre for Applied Technology comparable to leading polytechnics in the country.

The statement said, in the long run, the Polytechnic would run courses in fashion design and textiles and building technology. Other areas it would in future focus on,, include, dispensing technology, hotel catering and institutional management as well as laboratory technician courses.
