Wa Municipal records 56 fires incidents in 5 months

The Wa Municipal Fire Station of Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) recorded 56 fire cases from January to May this year, Mr. Mcfrancis Agbaritor, Assistant Divisional Officer, told the GNA in an interview.

He said 27 cases of the fire outbreaks were domestic fires, nine rural fires, four vehicular fires, 10 accidents, one industrial fire and five commercial fires.

Mr. Agbaritor expressed concern about the use of leaking gas cylinders and multiple connections of electrical gadgets on a socket which caused most domestic fires.

“Power fluctuation is also some of the causes of the fire outbreaks mostly on electrical,” he said.

Mr. Agbaritor said if people would change their attitude of overloading electrical gadgets on a socket and also stop putting stones on a leaking gas it would help to reduce fire outbreaks.

He said there had been a reduction in fire outbreaks last month, and appealed to people to be more concerned about their safety.
