Alhassan Grunsah who is in police custody for allegedly killing a number of vultures on a refuse dump in north Suntreso in Kumasi appeared in court today. The chief Inspector Opoku of the Sofoline police station who briefed our correspondent said the court ruled that Grunsah be remanded in custody pending further investigation.
According to him the police will probe deep into the background of Grunsah to establish his claim of being a sanitary worker with Cambridge International School. Chief Inspector Opoku however regretted the failure of the members of the volunteer group who effected the arrest of Grunsah to come forward to give statement on the issue to give the police to facilitate their investigations. Meanwhile the Ashanti regional Co-ordinator of the Game and Wildlife Department, Mr Kobla who learnt for the just time of this latest incident of cruelty to vultures regretted the incident.
Mr Komla will comment on the vulture killing scare which has become somehow rampant in recent times.Last year two residents of Atafoa, a suburb of Kumasi, were arrested by the police for killing 12 vultures allegedly to sell their meat to unsuspecting chop bar owners and ?khebab? sellers in the metropolis.
