Voting starts peacefully in UER

Bolgatanga, Aug. 7, GNA – Voting of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag bearer started peacefully on Saturday morning in the Upper East Region.

While some constituencies started at exactly 0900 hours, other areas begun late.

At the Bolgatanga Constituency polling station, the Jubilee Park, where 690 delegates are expected to vote, 168 delegates had voted as at 1000 hours while other delegates are in queue waiting to vote.

The Bongo constituency polling station where 492 delegates are expected to cast their votes, 440 had voted as at 1040 hours.

At the Bawku central constituency, 195 delegates out of a total of 522 delegates had cast their votes as at 1115 hours.

Voting at most centres in the Region has been arranged in batches since different groups of delegates within the constituency had to converge at a polling station to vote. It was also to ensure proper identification of the delegates.

A total of 5646 delegates are expected to cast their votes by 1500 hours.
