Voice of the Lord Evangelical Church supports NHIS

Awutu-Bawjiase, Oct.20, GNA – The Awutu-Bawjiase branch of the Voice of the Lord Evangelical Church, has launched a long-term sensitisation programme to promote the aims and objectives of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

Reverend Samuel Y. Temeng, Pastor in charge of the Bawjiase Circuit of the church, made this known to the GNA at Awutu Bawjiase. Rev. Temeng said the programme was the church’s contribution towards the realization of the goals set under the NHIS. Group leaders of the church have been charged with the responsibility of ensuring effective sensitisation of their members on the importance of the scheme.

Rev. Temeng assured the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly and Management of the District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme that the church would play its part as far as the awareness creation activities of the scheme was concerned to ensure its success.

He said apart from the NHIS, the church had also embarked upon an environmental sanitation programme to combat the spread of communicable diseases.

Rev. Temeng said the church regarded such sensitisation activities as part of its social responsibilities, adding the church has obligation to ensure both the spiritual and physical development of the people. He urged members of the church to embrace and register with the District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme to enable them to derive the maximum benefits.

They should also educate their friends and relatives to register and pay their premiums to facilitate the take off of the Scheme.
