Madam Kate Addo, the Acting Director of Public Affairs at the Parliament of Ghana, has said the Speaker of Parliament is keen on investigating, and bringing the law to bear on all persons implicated in the UK government’s visa fraud allegations if need be.
According to the Madam Kate Addo, the laws of Ghana apply to all irrespective of their position, rank, or party affiliation.
Speaking to the media, she iterated that the Speaker of Parliament, Professor Mike Oquaye, was keen on upholding parliament’s reputation and thus pledged to get to the bottom of the issue and instil the proper penalties.
“The laws are clear on these issues and the law is no respecter of a particular person so whoever has anything against anybody whether they are a Member of Parliament or not, once it is legitimate, the law can take its course and that’s what the Speaker indicated…he’s indicated that he is not going to take lightly any Member of Parliament bringing the name of Parliament into disrepute”, she said.
Madam Addo added that since he received the letter from the British government through the UK High commissioner, Professor Mike Oquaye has since been in touch with those parliamentarians implicated in order to ascertain their sides of the story.
