VIP bus kills two at Atwedie

Two women met their untimely deaths on Sunday evening when a Kumasi bound VIP bus from Accra run into them at the outskirt of Atwedie near Juaso in the Asante Akim South District.

Adwoa Pinamang, 47 and one Ataa, 35, foodstuffs sellers along that section of the Accra-Kumasi highway, had closed for the day and were returning home when the incident occurred.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Samuel Sandow Latebu, the District Police Commander, who confirmed the accident to the Ghana News Agency, said the left back tyres of the bus with registration number GS 8585 Z suddenly came off on reaching the spot.

The bus then veered off the road and knocked down the two, who were walking along the road, after which it stopped some 200 meters away.

DSP Latebu said the driver of the bus reported himself to the Police and was assisting in investigations and that the bodies have since been deposited at the First Klass Hospital Morgue at Yawkwei for autopsy.
