Vice President arrives in Bolgatanga

Bolgatanga, March 5, GNA – Vice President John Dramani Mahama arrived in Bolgatanga on Thursday for a three-day official visit to Upper East Region, during which he would lead in efforts to broker peace between feuding parties in the Bawku conflict. The visit at the instance of President John E. Atta Mills is towards peace-building efforts and to prevent further loss of life and property in the area.

About eight people have been confirmed dead and many houses burnt in the latest outbreak of hostilities in the area since Monday, March 2. Vice President Mahama is being accompanied by Mr Cletus Avoka, Minister of the Interior and Mr Mahama Ayariga, Spokesperson to President Atta Mills. 05 March 09
