VELD urged to extend licence registration date

Techiman (B/A), Sept. 8, GNA – The Ministry of Transport and Communication and the Vehicle Examination and Licensing Division have been urged to extend the date for the new registration of licences to next year.

Mr Johnson Badu Antwi, Chairman of Techiman Municipal Taxi Branch of Ghana Private Road Transport Union, who made the appeal, explained that the extension would reduce the pressure on the only vehicle-testing officer in Brong Ahafo.

He said because of the one-month period given to drivers in the Ashanti region, most drivers who could not have their licences renewed rushed to register in Brong Ahafo, especially in Techiman.

“Due to the enormous work load on the Testing Officer, it is likely that many drivers in Brong Ahafo would not have their licences renewed as in the other regions”, he said.
