Veep urges churches to support brilliant but needy children

Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has urged the churches in the country not to only concentrate on the spiritual wellbeing of its members but also their welfare especially children who are brilliant but needy.

Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur said this when he joined the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev. Charles Gabriel Palmer-Buckle to inaugurate and dedicate the St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at Ashale-Botwe in Accra.

He took the opportunity to praise the Catholic church for the continuous role that they have played in the society especially education which shapes the youth in the country who are the future generation, adding that the support of brilliant but needy children will go a long way to impact positively on their life and society as a whole.

The event also marked the 25th anniversary of the church which started in 1989 with 20 members, but the St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church has grown from strength to strength in terms of membership.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur, accompanied by his wife, Matilda, congratulated the pastoral council and members of the church on their sacrifice and dedication in building a place of worship in honour of God.

On his part Most Rev. Palmer-Buckle elevated the St Francis of Assisi Catholic from a directorate to the status of a parish.

This piece of good news was loudly received by the congregation. He asked them to rededicate themselves to the work of the church in order to positively impact Ashale-Botwe and beyond.

The Vice President together with his Wife Matilda Amissah Arthur donated an undisclosed sum of money to the church’s needy fund.
