Accra, July 8, GNA – The Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama on Friday signed a Book of Condolence, opened at the British High Commission, in Accra, in memory of the victims of Thursday’s bomb blasts in London. The Vice President expressed Ghana’s deep condolence over the tragedy and declared Ghana’ support for the war against terrorism.
Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Mr Affram Asiedu, Mr Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, Minister of Tourism and Modernisation of the Capital City and Mr Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, Minister of Works and Housing accompanied the Vice President to sign the Book of Condolence.
Mr Guynn Robin, Deputy British High Commissioner in Accra, expressed Britain’s appreciation to Ghana’s solidarity. He said British Prime Minister Tony Blair had re-affirmed his commitment, at the on going G-8 Summit to see to the reduction of Africa’s debt burden despite the tragedy.
On Thursday, parts of London’s underground railway network were hit by bomb blasts that had at least claimed 37 lives and left a number of people injured.
