Utility Tariffs May Go Up Soon

Utility costs are expected to rise in Ghana. The Electricity Company of Ghana and the Ghana Water Company are seeking the approval of the Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC) to increase tariffs. The utility companies have already submitted proposals to the PURC outlining the requested rates. However, neither the firms nor the Commission have agreed to release the exact percentage increases or the timeframe for the rate hike.

PURC Officials told newsmen that they are consulting with stakeholders to determine an appropriate utilities adjustment, and are declining comment on what consumers can expect.jfm
