US Seeks Ghana’s Support for Peace in Africa

21 May 1998 Madame Madeleine Albright, American Secretary for State has asked for Ghana’s support to ensure peace in West Africa especially in Sierra Leone. Speaking during a call on her by Vice President, Prof. John Atta Mills, Mrs Albright reviewed sub regional political issues and expressed concern about the escalating violence in Sierra Leone and the activities of the RUF rebels and asked for Ghana’s support in finding a lasting solution. On Liberia, she said the US will give further assistance to ECOMOG to help complete her assignment in that country.
