Upper East Regional Minister refute allegations

Bolgatanga, Sept. 20, GNA – Mr Mark Woyongo, Upper East Regional Minister, on Tuesday refuted allegation leveled against him by supporters of Mr Samson T. Chiragia, a contestant in the impending NDC parliamentary primary, to elect a candidate for the Navrongo Central Constituency in the 2012 election.

The Minister dismissed the allegation that he asked NDC Navrongo constituency executives to support him to contest for the primaries.

Mr Woyongo said it was not true that he transported NDC supporters and macho men’ from Bawku, Bolgatanga, Paga and Sandema to Notre Dame Minor Seminary Senior High School in Navrongo to intimidate supporters of his opponent in the contest.

He said: We are aware of the guidelines governing the primaries and the directives from the National Executive Committee requesting all constituency and Regional Executives not to back any particular candidate and to remain neutral”.

Mr Woyongo, who had filed to contest the NDC primaries for the Navrongo Central constituency, told GNA that it is not true that Madam Hilda Salifu Bolko ,a founding member of the NDC, supposedly said that she had been directed by President Evans Atta Mills to woo delegates to vote for him (Mr Woyongo) in the primaries.
