Upper East Co-ordinating Council inaugurates Farmers Day Committee

Bolgatanga, Oct. 09, GNA – The Upper East Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC) has inaugurated a 17-member committee chaired by the Deputy Regional Minister, Mr Awudu Yiremeah, to oversee and draw the plans for the 21st Regional Farmers Day celebration slated for November 2 in Navrongo, in the Upper East Region. Inaugurating the committee, the Regional Minister, Mr Boniface Gambila, implored the chairman to motivate his team to work assiduously to achieve successful results.

He charged the committee members to improve upon the farmers’ day activities that were held in the region some years back. The Regional Minister, who is the co-ordinator of the programme impressed upon the committee to endeavour to finish the groundwork by mid-November in order for it to be effectively and efficiently organised.

In response, the chairman of the committee thanked the Regional Minister for the confidence reposed in them and assured the Minister that he and his team would work hard to ensure the success of the programme.

The Chairman entreated his team to attach more importance to the Farmers’ Day celebration, saying the government recognises the important role farmers play towards national development. It is in recognition of this that government honours farmers for their dedication and hard work each year. In all, 66 farmers from the region would be honoured this year. 09 Oct. 05
