University workers threaten strike

The University of Ghana branch of the Federation of University Senior Staff Associations of Ghana (FUSSAG) and the Teachers? and Educational Workers? Union (TEWU) have threatened to embark on an industrial action today.

The action is likely to affect thousands of freshmen who are expected to begin registration formalities to finalise their admission into the University of Ghana.

Sources close to FUSSAG and TEWU disclosed to the paper that members of the two unions would meet this morning at the university?s main Legon gate to take a final decision ?before the strike starts in full swing.

According to the sources, the university authorities owe FUSSAG and TEWU members salary arrears for the period from January to June this year.
