University of Glasgow to honour Asantehene

The University of Glasgow, Scotland is to confer an Honorary Doctorate Degree “Honoris Causa” on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Professor Malcolm Mcleod, Vice-Principal of the University, announced this at the ‘Akwasidae’ celebration of Asanteman in Kumasi on Sunday and formally invited the Asantehene to receive the honorary doctorate degree at the University’s commemoration day on June 21.

He said the university will honour men and women of distinction and pay tribute to its benefactors down the centuries at the ceremony. This year’s commemoration day marks the 550th since the foundation of the university in 1451.
