Unemployed jailed 48 months for theft

The Bibiani Circuit Court presided over by Justice Emmanuel Ankamah, has sentenced 24-year-old Musah Iddrisu to 48 months imprisonment for the theft of provisions.

The convict broke into a container shop at Sefwi-Atronsu in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District, stole the goods valued at about GH¢2,000.00 and hid them in the bush.

Police Chief Inspector Alex Asamoah told the court that the crime was committed on May 23.

He said the owner of the shop, Kwabena Ofori, had detected the theft at about 0700 hours and decided to conduct his own investigation.

He said Mr Ofori succeeded in tracking the convict together with the stolen items to the bush and with the help of other people arrested and handed him over to the police.

Iddrisu admitted the offence.
