UDS School of Medicine and Health Sciences on course

Tamale, Sept. 2,GNA – The Vice-Chancellor of the University for Development Studies (UDS), has denied rumours that the University’s School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS), had been moved to the University of Cape Coast.

Professor John Kaburise, who addressed a press conference in Tamale said: “We strongly debunk these rumours and state categorically that they are unfounded, misguided and mischievous”.

He said the development of the SMHS was on course and referred to current works on the School’s library complex and a laboratory block. Prof. Kaburise said electricity and pipe- borne water, had been extended to the campus, while government was upgrading the Tamale Teaching Hospital to enhance learning. He announced that 16 graduates of the first batch of students, had passed out.

Prof. Kaburise said the Dutch Government, through NUFFIC; a Dutch non-governmental organisation had assisted the SMHS with one million euros for capacity building programmes.
