Two Zongo chiefs installed at New Edubiase

New Edubiase (Ash), Oct 6, GNA-Osman Ibrahim, a 44-year-old Chief Driver of the Adansi South District Assembly, has been installed as the Sarikyi Zongo (chief of Zongo) of New Edubiase in the Ashanti Region. Mr. Abdulai Baba, a 43-year-old Merchant, was also installed as the Deputy Sarikyi Zongo.

Alhaji Ibrahim Gibrin, the Adansi Area Sarikyi Zongo, who performed the ceremony, advised the new chiefs to be respectful, humble and tolerant.

He asked them to cooperate with all the ethnic leaders in the area, to promote peace and harmony.

Chief Ahmed Ibrahim, Head of the Wangara community in Kumasi, condemned the acts of hooliganism, drunkenness and ethnic conflicts in the Muslim communities and urged the new chiefs not to allow such incidents to dent the image of Islam.

Nana Assiama Guahyia Ababio, Edubiasehene, asked the two chiefs to strengthen the bond of unity and peace that existed among Muslims. Mrs. Theresa Joyce Baffoe, Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, tasked the chiefs to cooperate with all the political parties to ensure the success of Election 2004.
