Two remanded for snatching soldier’s bag

Tema, March 3, GNA – Two persons who attacked a soldier at the Ashaiman Lorry Station and snatched his bag containing personal effects have been remanded by the Tema Circuit Court ‘B’.

Prince Augustine, driver’s mate and Ibrahim Samba, mason, pleaded not guilty to stealing and would reappear before the court on March 16. According to Chief Inspector Teye Martey, the two accused persons attacked the complainant who is a Military Officer on November 11, 2004 around 2000 hours at the Ashaiman Lorry Park and snatched his luggage. He said the complainant reported the case to the stationmaster for assistance.

The following day the complainant together with his friends spotted Augustine at the station and arrested him, the prosecution said. Augustine led them to Samba, the second accused person, where the items were retrieved and both of them were sent to the Police station for interrogation, the prosecution added.
