Two remanded for defiling an 11-year old girl

Kumasi, July 8, GNA – Two young men who allegedly defiled an 11-year old primary six pupil on separate occasions were on Thursday remanded into prison custody by a Kumasi Circuit Court. Patrick Agyapong, alias 93Chief”, 19, and Ebenezer Okyere, 21, denied the offence and would re-appear on July 21. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Doris Amewu told the court presided over by Justice D. W. P Amedior that the complainant is the mother of the victim and lives together with her at Dichemso, the very place were the accused also stay.

In April, this year, at about 2000 hours the young girl was returning from an errand when Agyapong approached her, snatched the GH¢1.00 note she was holding and fled to a nearby school. Innocently the young girl followed him there. He took advantage of the absence of people in the vicinity to forcibly have sex with her.

He warned her not to tell anybody about it, threatening to kill her if she did the contrary.

The prosecution said at another time Okyere also lured her to an abandoned kiosk, where he sexually abused her. On her return to the house, she looked dirty and traumatized and this attracted the attention of the mother, who subjected her to some questioning. The girl told her everything about her ordeal and a formal report was made to the police.

ASP Amewu said a medical report signed by doctors who treated her confirmed that she had indeed been defiled. The two were therefore arrested and after investigations charged with the offence.
