Kumeso (Ash), July 5, GNA – The Juaso police is investigating the murder of a 42-year-old farmer, Kofi Boateng, at the outskirts of Kumeso near Obogu in the Asante-Akim South District on May 23. The Juaso Circuit Court has remanded two suspects, Charles Womega, 41, a purchasing clerk and Zalam Narh, 62, a farmer. Superintendent of Police Francis Agrippa Oppong, the District Police Commander, told the Ghana News Agency at Juaso that on the day of the murder one Kwaku Grumah met the two suspects heading towards Kwakrukrom.
He said the two asked Grumah whether the deceased was ahead and he replied in the negative. Minutes later, Grumah met Boateng who was also heading towards Kwakrukrom and informed him that the two suspects were asking of him.
A day later Boateng was found dead in the middle of the road with his bicycle and a heavy club lying beside him, adding that when the news of his death broke out the two suspects went into hiding. He said the youth of Kumeso managed to fish out Narh from his hideout and the police arrested Womega while crossing the River Pra into the Eastern Region.
Womega denied having a hand in the murder but a search conducted in his house led to the discovery of the shirt he wore on the day stained with blood.
