Two Police officers arrested over GCB bullion van attack

Two Police officers have been arrested in the Eastern region in connection with the robbery attack on a GCB Bank bullion van on Monday.

The armed robbers attacked the GCB Bank bullion van at Maame Krobo in the Affram Plains South district of the Eastern region, killing the driver of the van.

Also, a police officer escorting the van, according to Starr News’ Eastern regional correspondent Kojo Ansah, was shot and is now receiving treatment at Donkokrom Hospital.

The heinous incident reportedly occurred on Monday morning at about 10:30am. The robbers fled into the bush after the attack, Affram Plains district commander Superintendent Obeng Dompreh told Starrfmonline.com.

He said the robbers could not succeed with their operation as a result of a gun battle with the police officer on board the vehicle.

The deceased driver and the shot police officer have been identified as David Sarpong and Frederick Adei respectively.

But after thorough investigations, two Police officers have been arrested for their involvement in the robbery incident.

The officers known as Kissi and Fire are currently in Police custody aiding with investigations.
