Two killed, four injured in accidents in Ho

Ho, Jan. 4, GNA – Two persons were killed and four others injured in five road traffic accidents in the Ho municipal area over the Christmas and New Year holidays, Mr Agrippa Apatu, Volta Regional Head of the Police Motor Transport Traffic Unit (MTTU) told the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday.

He said Timothy Dzakluie, 45, from Hlefi, died on Monday at around 0930 hours when a Nissan Pick-up grazed the side of a Mercedes Benz tipper truck, which it was over-taking on the Akrofu-Klefe road. Mr Apatu said a motor-bike rider, yet to be identified, was also killed when his motorbike crashed with a Nissan Mini Bus at Sokode-Gbogame at around 1600 hours also on Monday.

Mr Apatu said two women and a male pedestrian, whose names he could not immediately give were injured in two separate accidents on December 24, last year at the Ho Civic Centre and the precincts of the Central Market respectively.

He said the fourth injured person, who was riding a motorbike, crashed with an Opel Astra Taxi Cab near the offices of the Regional Administration on December 31, last year.

Mr Apatu attributed most accidents in the region to poor judgement of drivers, carelessness and impatience.
