Two EC officials asked to proceed on leave over GHC480,000

A Deputy Commissioner and the Chief Accountant at the Electoral Commission have been asked to proceed on leave pending the outcome of investigations into the alleged misappropriation of GHC480,000 from the Endowment Fund at the Electoral Commission.

Deputy Commissioner, Georgina Opoku Amankwaah and Chief Accountant Kwaku Owusu Agyei-Larbi are assisting the Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) in unraveling the truth about the matter.

Head of Public Affairs at the EC, Eric Kofi Dzakpaso who confirmed this on Accra-based Joy FM, indicate that their compulsory leave is just to allow for investigations into the allegations leveled by some staff of the commission.

“They were only asked to proceed on leave to protect the integrity of the [investigation] process,”
