Two dead as building collapses on them

Sunyani, May 31, GNA – Tragedy struck Kato near Berekum last Friday when a 22-year-old pregnant woman and a six-year-old boy were crushed to death by a collapsed mud building following a heavy downpour.

Three others who were sleeping in the room got injured and are on admission at the Holy Family Hospital in Berekum. Narrating the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on telephone in Sunyani,Mr. Francis Boateng, a family member, gave the names of the deceased as Maa Abenaa, the pregnant woman and Solomon Kofi Nsiah.

The family spokesman said Maa Abenaa lived at Mim and had come to the father at Kato few weeks ago to deliver. Mr. Boateng said Nsiah lived in the Western Region with his parents and had come to Kato with a relative barely a week before the accident. Mr. Boateng said police from Berekum had visited the scene of the incident and were conducting investigations.
