Two armed robbers killed in Tema

Tema, March 07, GNA- Two armed robbers have been killed in a shoot out with the Police in Tema when they invaded the material yard of the Volta River Authority (VRA) at dawn.

The ringleader identified as Amoasi, alias container, died on the spot while Richard Neequaye passed away at the Police Hospital in Accra. The Tema Regional Crime Officer, Chief Superintendent Joshua Tetteh Dogbedah told journalists on Monday that the armed robbers were scaling the wall of the yard when the policeman shouted at them to halt.

He said the thieves who have already broke into some containers abandoned their booty to attack the policeman and disarm him. The policeman was therefore compelled to open fire, which forced the five remaining robbers to take to their heels.

Chief Superintendent Tetteh said the police discovered eight sacks fully loaded with bolts and nuts.

He said thieves had persistently attacked the yard with offensive weapons.
