Two accident victims identified as GPRTU executives

Gomoa Budumburam (C/R), Dec. 16, GNA – Two people who were killed in the Gomoa Budumburam accident on Monday have been identified as Mr Philips Essel and Mr Isaac Yeboah, Chairman and Secretary respectively of the Gomoa Budumburam branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union. The Kasoa District Police Motor Transport and Traffic Unit (MTTU) Commander Assistant Superintendent of Police William Gyamfi told the GNA in an interview that three of the victims had also been identified. They are Akwasi Amissah 42, Tanko Mohammed Zakari, 40, from Budumburam and Naomi Iden, 22, who was selling a phone cards. A Cesspit tanker from the Budumburam Camp was joining the Winneba/Accra road when it collided with a truck heading towards Winneba. The tanker ran into a group of people standing at the roadside near a filling stationt.

Mr Gyamfi said the two GPRTU officials had gone to the roadside to advise a driver who was picking passengers at the roadside instead of the station when they met their death. He the drivers of the two accident vehicles and surrendered to the police and are helping them in their investigations.
